Ángel León (Aponiente***) and Pedrito Sánchez (Bagá*) cooking together for the first time
The chefs of Aponiente and Baga will cook together in Alevante* (Sntic Petri), restaurant owned by León.
Marine biologists, scientists and professionals operating in the science and fishing sector, national and foreign, will be at a congress where some of the best sea chefs will cook, talk and share their experiences with congress-goers. One of the activities will be held in Alevante*, at Sancti Petri (Chiclana de La Frontera), with Ángel León and Pedrito Sánchez (Bagá*, Jaén). Another congress day, Thursday 27 October, will be spent at the Doñana National Park, with talks and a unique gastronomy event with chefs Xanty Elías (Finca Alfoliz, Huelva) and Juanlu Fernández (Lú, Cocina y Alma*, Jerez) by way of a tribute to the 500th anniversary of Elcano's return to Andalusia via Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
It will also be the first time that the International Meeting of the Seas will be holding an original gastronomic activity in Portugal, in view of the proximity of the opening of the congress at Ayamonte's "Casa Grande" to the Portuguese border. Lunch that day will feature Portuguese chefs Rui Silvestre (Vistas*, Vila Nova de Cacela) and Joao Rodrigues (Projecto Materia) alongside Andalusians Juanlu Fernández and Marcos Nieto (Cañabota*, Sevilla), with a seafood menu from both territories to be served up at the Vistas restaurant.
