The foods of the Magellan–Elcano expedition. The ingredients of the First Globalisation

History also teaches us lessons on the sea and food.
The first circumnavigation of the World was carried out between 1519 and 1522 by the Magallanes-Elcano Expedition; an odyssey that confirmed the Earth was round, and signalled the start of navigation around the Pacific Ocean with the discovery of the Philippine Islands. One of the main challenges faced during this adventure was the food on board, because feeding a crew with the difficulties of preserving foodstuffs over such a long voyage was quite a task.
