“Maritimidade” Algarvia: Seascapes, biodiversity and the new balance between fishing and ecology in the seas of the Algarve

We will take a look at the Algarve Coast's "Maritime Terroir" and its enormous ambivalence.

The convergence of the Algarve's "two seas" contains an enormous natural heritage, crammed with biodiversity and a number of environment and landscape scenarios. Pedro Bastos will take us to this location, and also to the tastes and practices acquired by the people of this unique remote region that has been dependent on fish, and still depends on the sea.

We will observe modern management of marine territory, examining Portugal's largest Natural Marine Reserve, and an updated map of the aquaculture of fish and bivalves, and their relationship with gastronomy in general and regional socioeconomic development.
